It’s less than a 3 hr flight from Atlanta. Cozumel is 9×30 miles in size and about 90k people.
The hustle by the locals starts from the airport so buy your shuttle ticket to your hotel inside the airport and board outside. It’s about 7 to 11 USD, depending on your zone.
They have Starbucks, Cartier and other pricey places downtown. I stayed in my lane and bought coffee only.
lf you are looking to relax and recharge this is the spot, to party and go buck wild please go to Cancun.
Downtown is cool but over priced as the cruise ships dock there and everything is in USD.
I ate where the locals ate. LaConchita was awesome as you pick from fresh daily caught fish and they fry right away. Open 11-7 pm.
For a girl that loves chips and salsa this was fresh n yummy. I also had some “slap yo mama” good coconut prawns.
You cannot change USD to pesos without a passport so come prepared. Smh.
Fish pedicures are everywhere, uhmm IssANope4Me.
You can rent a car to tour the island or get a 4 hour taxi tour for 80 USD. Mexican police are known for pulling folks over for bribes so be ready.
There is no Uber here.
Plan to pay cash, USD or pesos. Some restaurants don’t accept cards. Leave the Amex at home too.
Snorkeling is big here and so is golf. You can take a ferry across to Cancun/Isla Mejeres area for these activities.
It felt pretty safe even at night.
I’m not a huge fan of hotel/resort food when I travel but the breakfast at the Westin was pretty good.
Do not hand your phone to anyone to take a picture of you. Well unless you are a sprinter and like to fight.
Relaxing on a lounge chair, reading a book with waves crashing, helped reset my brain.
You will openly get approached to buy knock offs, weed and pharmacy meds without a prescription just smile, say no and keep walking. Well unless that’s your thing. Good luck sha oohh!
Tequila tours are all over downtown. Anyway good luck, I am a light weight that knows her place.
Yes, l had a short but relaxing getaway and I will gladly go back.
